Here are a couple of new murals by Spanish artist Sebastián Velasco painted recently in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican republic for the Artesano Project curated by yet another talented muralist, Evoca1.

One of them, titled “Master of Puppets” and painted in the La playa de muerto neighbourhood, is based according to the artist on different photographs he took of a man called Jean, a Haitian puppeteer they met one night near the wall, during the first weekend of Artesano Project.
Velasco relates that he liked the idea of portraying someone who had to travel across the Island in order to perform in the streets.

The second mural, titled “Flotte mais jamais ne sombre” and also painted in the Playa de muerto neighbourhood, is the product of a collaboration with Canadian artist CY (Cyrielle Tremblay) whose work, like Sebas Velasco’s, often focuses on people, inspired by their dynamics and contradictions, but with a predominantly illustrative style.
