vhils-hong-kong-1Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto (VHILS) is currently in China where he recently finished carving the portrait of a former factory worker on the walls of Nan Fung Textiles, now being transformed into a creative hub called The Mills, in Tsuen Wan.
The project, co-organized by HOCA Foundation and The Mills Gallery, is the artists first portrait in an outdoor space in Hong Kong, but not the last one. It marks the beginning of a series of outdoor and indoor installations in the city co-organised by the non-profit Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation . It will lead to a solo exhibition for the artist next year.
According to some sources the portraits will be temporary installations to be removed during the course of the heritage conservation project at The Mills, which is expected to be completed by 2018.
