Chazme “Silence in EUR” x Memorie Urbane Festival 2017

Today I got images of this stunning piece painted by Polish artist and muralist Daniel Kalinski aka Chazme in Formia, Italy for this year’s Memorie Urbane Festival.

Chazme’s work is characterised by a close study of the city and the urban landscape expressed through dystopian compositions, comments and critiques on urban planning and architecture. They represent in many ways the fast growing metropolis whose development has often been compared to that of living organisms; structures that constantly expand, overlap and intertwine giving shape to massive and seemly uncontrollable mazes.
As a graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Technology in Warsaw, it is very important for Chazme to pay close attention the his surroundings when giving shape to his designs, specially in connection with the street. In his works he aims to tell stories of the places he visits, making them an integral part of the walls he paints.

“Silence in EUR”, as the mural was titled, is no exception. The almost monolithic and interlaced structures, replicates the surrounding architecture through different geometrical and architectural elements that completely transform the buildings facade into a massive metropolis.
