Swiss artist Adrian Falkner, also known in the world of urban art as Smash137, will be opening next week ‘Thinking Hand’ his new solo show at Galerie Le Feuvre in Paris.
‘Thinking Hand’ is in many ways a turning point in Falkner’s career. He started doing graffiti in the 90s followed by a career as a graphic designer that certainly influenced his work. The last few years, the work of Smash317 suffered a transformation, a slow metamorphosis. A couple of years ago, his work started evolving from a Graffiti based calligraphic style into a style of colourful abstractions, but still using the form of single letters as powerful signs. ‘Thinking Hand’ represents a new phase in this development into pure abstraction where he stops preconceiving his works and controlling the creative process. From now, spontaneity replaces precision and intuition becomes a creative factor. The keyword is ‘to let go’, to see where his hand could guide him.
‘Thinking Hand’ opens on Thursday May 19 at the gallery located on 164, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris. The show will be on view until June 25, 2016.
