etam-cru-bosnia&herzegivina-1The popular duo ETAM Cru spent a few days in working on this new and monumental mural in the streets of Banja Lukain Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Painted for the Flasher Street Art Festival and titled “Icarus”, the new mural depicts a young man experiencing to ‘fall’ head down from the sky. We see feathers incrusted in his clothes and a bid pillow and cover on the ground (or bed?).
According to the legend, Icarus, the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, attempted to escape from Crete wearing wings built by his father. He was told to fly neither too low nor too high, so the dampness of the sea would not clog his wings or the sun’s heat melt them, but Icarus ignored his father’s words and flew too close to the sun. The sun melted the wax in his wings and he fell into the sea.
Our Icarus could also remind us of that recurrent dream we all have had once where we find ourselves falling from the sky, the horror, the tension of a nightmare.
